Check each layer of permission
Input licenses, model-service terms, people or trademarks in the image, and final publication requirements are separate questions. Paying for generation or downloading open weights does not independently authorize every commercial use. This is workflow guidance, not a legal determination for a particular project.
Images found through search are not automatically reusable. Client-supplied references also need an agreed scope for modification, channels and responsibility.
Keep an asset record
Record the terms applicable when the work was generated. API services, model weights and outputs may be governed by different conditions.
- Record the source and acquisition date.
- Save the license and permitted scope.
- Check people, marks and protected characters.
- Review duration, territory, attribution and redistribution conditions.
Review newly generated content
Inspect added logos, likenesses and unsupported claims. Product performance, medical claims, prices and news-like scenes need factual review. Keep source records, settings and final files; consult a qualified professional when the project needs legal advice.
